Ty Mecham is a commercial and editorial photographer based in New York City who is known for his strong use of color, textures, and stylized lighting in his still life, interiors, food, portrait, and fashion photography.
Ever learning, Ty is drawn to new processes of generating art within and outside of photography. He is in his element while creating: whether it is making pictures with a camera, drawing, or building art with his hands. Ty enjoys the process of making art and loves the thrill of collaborating with other artists. His photography has been showcased in galleries in NYC and featured in print and online. His clients include West Elm, Food52, Godiva, Tabasco, Sleepy Jones, Kate Spade Saturday, POM Wonderful, Physique 57 and Q Drinks, among others.
When Ty brought his passion for photography to New York City he had the privilege to work on shoots with Michael Thompson, Patrick Demarchelier, Annie Leibovitz, Karl Lagerfeld, Rodney Smith, Roland Bello, and others. These large-scale productions, often featuring top models and high-end clients, prepared him to manage shoots of any scale.
Raised in the United States, Europe, and Central America, Ty finds inspiration in new towns and countries. He lived in California for many years before moving to NYC (via a few states) and is comfortable on either coast. After more than 10 years in the city, he now considers it his home but continues to fill his passion for travel, exploring new places, cultures, and meeting people from all over.
Ty has a BFA in photography and is thrilled to live in New York City with his wife and son. He enjoys the high energy and diversity of the city but also spending time in the great outdoors.
