James Ransom grew up near Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating with a BFA in Photography from Brigham Young University, he made his way to New York City to pursue a career in commercial photography. In 2011 he was introduced to Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs, co-founders of Food52, and over the course of the next several years, helped define the visual brand of the company. From there he has gone on to shoot for notable commercial and editorial clients and publications across the country. James lives in New York City with his wife and four children. He’s an avid soccer fan, up-and-coming foodie, and a cancer survivor.
